Creating and Maintaining a Community of Equity and Belonging

This training provides educational institutions and organizations the opportunity to explore the inclusive culture of their community and the barriers that are preventing them from forward-moving practices. My role is to invite folks into conversations about diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) through a trauma-informed lens, my DEIJ education and from my lived experience as a queer-identifying educator raising a child of colour.

Participants will:

  • Develop an understanding of unconscious bias and privilege

  • Explore opportunities for positive community relationships and experiences

  • Learn inclusive and shared language that supports belonging

  • Learn strategies for creating environments of belonging that acknowledge intersectionality

  • Identify barriers to DEIJ practices in your community - be invited to broaden thinking, engage in curiosity, and bring questions about DEIJ in a non-judgmental space that honours the TRY!
