my story

Hayley Jacobs

BA, MC, CCC (#3084)

It is collectively human to find oneself in moments where life feels hard. It is in these moments when we are called upon to explore our soft spots, as it is in our soft spots that we find flexibility.

To feel that you fully belong, you need to be able to show up as your whole self

As a therapist, my priority is to provide all of my clients with a caring, compassionate, non-judgmental and inclusive space to heal. By meeting you where you are at in your journey, affirming, validating and valuing your stories and experiences, I strive to engage with curiosity to encourage growth and offer guidance so that you may show up in your life as your authentic, courageous and empowered self.

As someone who identifies as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, who lives and loves proudly in a queer relationship, and who is raising a resilient and beautifully sensitive biracial teenage daughter, I feel that I bring an awareness and lived experience to counselling for adolescents, individuals, parents and families.

My therapeutic Approach

I am an experienced educator and Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) currently working in the school system and in private practice. I completed my Master of Counselling at the University of Calgary in 2013, and I have been working with adolescents and their families for over 20 years.

I strongly believe that the success of therapy survives in the trust and genuine connection established between counsellor and client. My therapeutic approach is to offer support and guidance through kindness, compassion, empathy and a dash of good humour.

In order to focus on my clients’ holistic care and well-being, I move through multiple and integrative modalities and interventions, all of which are infused through a trauma-informed lens and sit under the umbrella of positive psychology. I have experience in a variety of approaches and evidence-based techniques including:

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy

  • Attachment-based therapy

  • Humanistic approach theory

  • Narrative therapy

  • Family systems therapy

Through respectful collaboration, strategies and use of resources, my intention is to leverage courage for change so that, together, we can co-create your personalized therapeutic tool kit.
